So we walked and walked.

At the other end of the street from the train station is the old Centrum department store, now a Hertie. There was one department store per city--and this was it.

Love that crystalline architecture.

On the side of the city hall is this wonderful stone mural. It looks even better enlarged; you can click on it to see a larger picture.

The German government has done a thorough job of eradicating every public display that glorifies communism throughout the eastern states. This mural is actually under a heavy green mesh, but through the magic of Photoshop you can see underneath.

At right, just another example of some DDR post-war architecture. This, I believe, is or was a restaurant.
