Dominating Leipzig city center is the University. It was an interesting old building torn down in DDR days to erect a huge modern socialist university. About the only thing left of the old university quad is the archway you see in the picture above. |

The University of Leipzig... formerly known as the Karl Marx University (who would've guessed?). The university and Leipzig were very important in the events leading to reunification. |
