Up to the
Lakes...
Well, we hiked up and hit the lakes... and
suddenly, the landscape widened out and the mosquitoes left us. It
was such a relief...

Your host (me!) at the first of the
Graveyard Lakes. They're right at treeline, say, around
10,000' elevation. Guess that's just over 3000 meters
high.

Anyway, up there there's lots of cool
alpine rock gardens with streams and bushes and wonderfully
twisted trees.

But mostly we just sat and lounged
around. Dr Rocks poked around some, and found some pumice,
which excited him... somewhat. (he's a volcanologist!)
