Sierra Nevada Backpacking - Return To Graveyard Lakes

August 1998

Up to the Lakes...

Well, we hiked up and hit the lakes... and suddenly, the landscape widened out and the mosquitoes left us. It was such a relief...

Your host (me!) at the first of the Graveyard Lakes. They're right at treeline, say, around 10,000' elevation. Guess that's just over 3000 meters high.

Anyway, up there there's lots of cool alpine rock gardens with streams and bushes and wonderfully twisted trees.

But mostly we just sat and lounged around. Dr Rocks poked around some, and found some pumice, which excited him... somewhat. (he's a volcanologist!)
