Golden Prague was Red Prague through 1990, when they saw the wisdom
that is McDonald's and KFC. Here are some pictures from those

(By the way, those Soviet escalators
are wicked, scarily fast! The ones in Munich are painfully
slow... but that's another story.)

An old milk store. Yep, just
milk.

This Soviet wedding cake hotel was
built in 1952 for the Soviet army.
It's luxurious inside, with wonderful
woodwork and plush carpeting. The balustrades on the
stairways are wheat stalks of brass!
Now it's a Holiday Inn. I like that
they painted the red star on top green. It's the color of
money, isn't it?
