Brian and Rick look up at glacier's snout. This is at 3600'/1100m elevation or so. It's kind of strange to see a glacier this low--yeah, in Alaska they come right down to sea level, but this isn't Alaska!
Looking up on the top of the glacier, you can see the dirty layer of rock and dirt, and plants growing thinly up on top. Every so often, a rock would come tumbling off of it. You wouldn't want to go up and stand right next to it.
It's really hard to get a sense of scale here. I'd say that the face is maybe 1000 feet across, maybe more, and some 150 feet tall.
