Death Valley Roadtrip

sunflower fields forever

Once we popped over into Death Valley proper was when the miles and miles of wildflowers showed up. Above was how the plains and alluvial fans looked at the north end of the valley, just past the sand dunes on the way to the visitor center.

Now here's the gang: from the left, Dave, Peter, Chris, and me. Notice the yellow shading on the hillsides behind us? We're at Zabriskie Point, which is also the name of some 1970's movie that no one seems to have seen but everyone seems to agree "was really really bad." OK, back to the wildflowers... the gang

OK, one more people shot. Here we are standing on the edge of the road, taking pictures like the tourists we are! Notice how soggy the lake bed is behind us?

Next, we went up a side canyon to see some great flowers.
