Chris' Dad, Kim, celebrated his 60th birthday the week before New Year's, and Judith (Chris' Mom) thought it would be great to have a birthday party in his honor!

Judith found some super help with Veronica and Tamara to help plan the event: scout the restaurant, plan the evening, make the menu, send the invitations! The party was held at the restaurant in the Hotel Codru in central Chisinau, and about fifty people came: perhaps half local residents, and half from the Peace Corps and other European aid organizations.

It was a wonderful evening. Here are a few pictures from it.

Dancing

Costeo and Elena, from Hincesti, dance the hora.

After food (and wine!) was served, a hora broke out, as often does at Moldovan parties. Everyone dances in a circle, then one person picks another out of the crowd to dance with in the middle. The circle stops, then everyone claps as the center couple dances. Finally, the just-picked person stays in the middle, and the circle goes around again!

More party goers!
