So the adventure begins! A beautiful day of driving down US101 from Mountain View to the parental unit's house. (Is the travelogue boring yet or what?) Not much else to report--it's a drive that's been done dozens of times! Here's a picture of the sunset we took, off Highway 101 between Carpinteria and Ventura (no relation to Ace). That's Santa Cruz Island on the horizon. One of the main purposes of this trip was to see how a digital camera and a laptop would perform in taking and touching up travel photographs. It worked pretty well, though the colors did wash out a bit due to the laptop's display. The camera was Apple's QuickTake 100 (one of the first digital cameras), and the laptop was an Apple PowerBook Duo 2300c.
